Kerala Congress chief invites CPI to join United Democratic Front

Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President K Sudhakaran has invited the Communist Party of India (CPI), a key ally of CPI(M) in the Left Democratic Front (LDF), to join the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) if they are “willing to correct their mistakes”.
Sudhakaran criticised CPI for “shamelessly staying in the LDF like slaves” and urged them to take an independent stance if needed. While no discussions are currently underway, he expressed openness to talks if CPI acknowledges and corrects its mistakes.
Sudhakaran’s statement comes in the wake of CPI’s consistent criticism and demand for action against Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) MR Ajith Kumar.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan recently clarified that no one would be removed from their post based on mere allegations, and that appropriate action would follow a proper investigation.
Earlier, CPI(M) had expressed dissatisfaction with Left MLA PV Anvar’s public criticism of the Chief Minister’s political secretary and senior police officials.
The CPI(M) leadership urged Anvar to refrain from actions that could provide ammunition to political adversaries.
Anvar later announced he would temporarily halt public statements.
